2013 4th quarter project log for everyone

Postby Angelwing » Fri Oct 11, 2013 7:11 am

thought I'd kick things off with this:
Imperial guard veterans squad. The sarge can be swapped out for Sergeant Harker and become catachan devils. They have a flamer, 2 meltaguns and demolitions doctrine.

I must say what a welcome and timely resurrection, good show old chap.

I've lost the will to live with painting again... but I have two models I'm working on.
a) That bloody eurofighter (see ad nausuem competition of the months, if I get time I'll copy a link over)
b) My wife bought me a Lord Vetinari led model on throne (you know the awesome dude in charge of ankh morpork).

My intention over 3 months.. something more than grey for plane.. undercoat and base coats dude on chair.

How did marbo turn out in the end? can we get a group shot?? :)

Ohhh!

I have made 4 bloodbowl ogres over the last couple of weeks, will get painted soon.

I too have a Lord Vetinari which your wife gave my wife, and has been sat in undercoat for a few months (with the excuse of "we're moving"). So that'll get done too.

We'll I've been off for two weeks looking after the misses as she recovers from a complete thyroidectomy operation. This has allowed me to finally paint the missile silo I made from the fortress of redemption kit. Still some detail painting to do but I'll post up some pics shortly.
I may start on an Elysian command squad I bought about ten months ago.

With the baby due in December I imagine time will be at a premium (rather than my usual barrier of laziness), but I'd like to progress my Malifaux crews and the two human characters I have for Darklands.

Nice Catachans Angelwing! Of all the IG, they were my favourite. I just could never paint enough faces before getting fed up :/

I think I burn my paint fu out a bit on the Marcus crew for Malifaux. I've been struggling last few weeks to do any kind of models.

I started 3 Ten Thunder Archers for Malifaux. They're built and undercoated. I've arranged a game of 2.0 at my local next Wednesday, so I better hurry up and get them finished.

But at the moment I'm working on another model.. very slowly. Being totally cheesed of with GW at the moment (probably indefinitely), I decided to kit bash a few kits I had on the shelf. In this case it was a Shadowsword and Stormraven. I don't have a name for it, but I'm imagining it to be a rescue or exploration vehicle for inhospitable environments or planets.

Oh oh, baby derail (IMM the reason for the second influx to AOS).. first 3 months of doom you won't breathe, won't be able to watch TV etc (unless you luck out with one like my second who just slept for 3 months but thats rare)..
After that whoevers at home will have to put up with bored pinned bits of their day at random points.. I read well over 8 sets of 30 years of comics backcatlogs and was a prolific painter during that period. (if not you then mrs baragash)..That whole dash of paint then wait till dry before next layer /next X fits really well with oh ma gaahds I have a 3 minutes break (at 3am). Reading real books/ for more than your child assigned 5 minutes just doesn't work (hence good quality comics).

Has the ruleset moved on from the alpha thing? what rules are people using generally at the mo??

My father in law just had that (messy cancer thing).. awesome staples around his throat made it look like someone had swapped his head whilst he slept.. wishing her a speedy recoup. :)

Cheers KMB. She had hers glued and it's looking pretty good. Hopefully in six months it won't be noticeable. :-)

Congrats Bara! Hope the pregnancy/birth goes smoothly bud. I would say make most of now though. Like KMB says, you won't get a lot done after (s)he is born unless you're lucky ;)
I'd also like to say wish all the best to Mrs RWOJ. Hope she gets well soon.

Malifaux 2.0 saw a Pre release at Gamescon or Gencon or what ever Con it was a month or two ago. But as of the beginning of October, it's official general release. You can still use your old figures, but now there are new stat cards for them. So far, there are only stat cards for wave one. But that equates to 3 crew for each faction plus a few new characters. Of course, the rule book also contains the wave one stat cards, which you can copy.
I can't rate 2.0 enough. The new rules are far easier to read and find. Much less ambiguous.
Perhaps we should start a 2.0 discussion in the Malifaux section?

Is there a rulebook that you can actually buy (unlike last time where it was nigh on impossible to get a physical copy)

Forgot to add this: a GW resin ork barricade. I was given some of them from a friend a couple of years back, and he found this one a few days ago and it dropped into my lap. I've done a very quick paint job to match the others, and because in fairness I've already got lots of barricades.

Thanks for the comments guys :) I might go for the Nightingale, that does sound fitting. I'm trying to stay a bit further away from 40k. Going to at some point use land speeders and bikes to make buggies. Actually I'm thinking more along the lines of Red Faction Guerrilla style vehicles.

My local shop is a stockist of Malifaux. Never had a problem getting 1.5. In fact they still have several copies of 1.5. They got 2.0 as soon as it was released. I got mine last week. I 'assume' he still has more copies, if not, I'm sure he can get them in. They don't do mail order.. at least not yet anyway. But I can give you the phone number if you wish? Or you can send the funds and I can buy/order a copy and post to you. It cost me £28. (More expensive than 1.5, but has 284 pages as apposed to 1.5's 236 pages.)
