Blood Angels Re-Vamp!

Postby Darklighter » Fri Jan 02, 2015 10:47 am

And so it begins a new year and a new army..... Well sort of! With the new codex hitting and my Tau all but finished I've been digging about in my Marine collection seeing what I have stashed about the place. I'm not sure why but when I tackle painting my tau I go for large groups of models and batch paint the hell out of them in blocks of about 500-1000 points at a time. I wish I could do the same with my Blood Angels! Looking at what I've found I've ran at every unit with a spasmodic zeal and zero battle plan! I tellz ya it's intimidating!!!

I've even got more I think, 4 tactical squads (old black reach ones) and two metal Sternguard squads. They are all ready and waiting in my bitz box with enough spares to make a few more marines if needed. I may repurpose a squad or two to be missile Devs maybe plasma? I do how ever need ot get hold of a boat load of Grav weapons mostly the rifles but pistols and combi's would be useful also.

It looks like have a long road ahead with out buying anything new..... I still want a set or two the them Assault terminiators though.

Blood Angels are the easy choice, assemble, red undercoat, red spray, red ink, done...

lol, you always get far more out of the backgrounds than the actual subjects in my photos. I love it! I've only played one character class the cowgirl but I'm on my second play through with her and the only reason I've not finished that play though is I've had force my self away to tend to other hobby matters.

I'm not sure red is a simple colour to paint at least no easier than any other chapter colour but the amount of detail on the BA kits mean it takes ages to get all the fiddly bits done on them.... For me anyways.

I love the storyline and the twist on Handsome Jack's past. I might have to get back into it if for no other reason than to spend the 60+ golden keys I have stockpiled, lol.

Your not missing out on much it's just leveled purples and nothing better than the stuff you can find it's just nice for leveling.

I have my first update of the year ready! I've managed to get a Drop pod and a Tactical squad all done with two Jump pack Sanguinary Priests.

I may have to swap my backgrounds to white for future pictures the black is a bit of pain for photographing red.

Next on the block may be either an other Drop pod with Furioso and Corbulo or a Stormraven gunship... I've not made my mind up yet.

Very nice!
And yes, a white background would be much better!

It's bit early for me to say really I've not played it yet or had good look. The stand out units so far are death company. They are cheaper than ever with jump packs only being a 3 points upgrade! Sanguinary guard also got cheaper and a larger squad count. Flamers in Tac squads as well as the Sargent's getting access to more wargear they have much more option now.

Ok I've not got much done recently so I thought I'd at least throw up a WiP shot with a backdrop comparison to keep the blog alive.

Image

If I'm to stick with a white backdrop I'll get something better than a few sheets of A4... I'm not sure though that I like it more than the black?

What do you guys think?
