funny you ask that, he's asked me to do a review of them for him, i was going to write something up on here about them once i had a few more to hand

a short version, im seriously impressed by them, they're as thin as GW layer paints, but cover like foundations, mix them 2-1 water - paint and they work in airbrushes

the iron grey is a match for old boltgun, which is a lovely little bonus :)

the colours are nice and solid, meaning it doesnt really matter what i put them over, they look the same, so grey/white/black base, doesnt make much difference, makes them the perfect base or highlight colours

only complaint i have is the yellow being thinner than sin, but in his defence, he did warn me of that when i bought it :P

he's also got some washes that he wants me to take a gander at, will be seeing him on the 14th so can say more about them after that

considering he's still working on new paints, i think he's doing a great job, if his washes are good enough, i think i might use him exclusively

What kinds of techniques have you used with them. I hear that the dry time is a little longer than GW paints making them easier to use for wet blending and the such. Also do you know if the mix with other water based paints ranges (GW and Vallejio)?

ive only used them for basic painting on test models, didnt want to put them into full use untill i had a better idea of dry times and potential uses

for their drying times, some of them do seem a little longer than GW

metallics dry like standard GW, but the blue and green i have took a little longer, with yellow bringing up the rear and actually taking as much time as a thinned wash to dry

they mix together quite well, got a lovely shade of purple out of them (though he does have his own), but i havent tried mixing them with GW or vallejo yet

give me a couple more days of playing about with them, and i may have a few more answer for you :P

so im having a thought

what if an ork wagon was de-orked

or a trukk was de-orked

im thinking that a de-orked wagon would make a nice stand in for a patwagon for the justice department

or a trukk would make a nice vehicle for the streets (ie: scenery)

i considered the orky bikes, but having seen them unpainted and without riders... yeah i'll pass, would be better off heavily converting marine bikes!

anyone think it could work?

I wouldn't totally write off ork bikes.

Image

This isn't the best photo or paint job ever, but it's made with the front end of an Ork bike the back wheel is off a buggy and the rear swing arm is the inards of a drop pod. The Marine him self has the ork arms and legs.

im not bothered about riders, they'd just be sitting at the side of a road, seriously, just for scenic purposes!

hmmm

spose bikes would give better flexibility on a board, cover possibilities and all that

well theres no rush, so will see what i can think of :P

Bat Burglar

Assassin

both are themed after well known tv/movie/game characters, you earn 1 nerd point if you guess it right! (with a bonus point for their full names!)

The assassin model is based on the assassin from an old daily Star dredd strip illustrated by Ron Smith.

Surely Bat Burglar isn't based on Batman/Bruce Wayne, so I'm lost there... ;) Is is Superman? :P

As to the assassin, the colours look very Assassin's Creed/Desmond Miles/Altaïr ibn-La'Ahad

---===---BREAKING NEWS---===---

Earlier tonight, an explosion in a chemical factory claimed the lives of 23 Judges

While raiding a local gang hideout, stray fire from the perps ignited the storage tanks, instantly killing everyone within a 3 block radius.

The perps and the civilians lost are inconsequential, none of them were productive members of society and were nothing but a drain on Mega City 1's resources.

So, to honor those lost, we will list the names of those brave Judges, who gave their lives defending our great Mega CIty:

Judge Dredd
Judge Rico
Judge Anderson
Judge Giant
Judge DeMarco
Judge Dekker
Judge John 'J3' Jay
Judge Picot
Judge Gracen
Judge Murphy
Judge Cain
Judge Santi
Psi Judge Netan
Tek Judge Enzo
Tek Judge Stanton
SJS Judge Logan
SJS Judge Teague
Cadet Bertram
Cadet Wood
Academy Tutor Sterling
Riot Judge Locke
Hondo City - Inspector Inaba

Also worth mentioning, is that the scourge that is Renegade Chief Judge Caligula has been removed from our streets, seen to be leading the gangs in the area, he was also killed in the explosion.

More on this as we get it

so... after many many many hours of deliberation

i've settled on a new scheme for the judges, with renewable paint!

Image

both parts of the blue mix are readily available, its vallejo game color night blue, and GW layer lothern blue

the greens are now waugh wood elf green base with vallejo game color sick green on top

grey highlights on the black are now Eshin grey

everything else is the same

now dont let the picture fool you, each judge won't be split 50/50, that was just to help me decide which to use!

i ran up the test guy pictures totally black first, using the first appearance dredd as a base for him (with yellow elbow and knee pads), i forgot just how much i liked that pattern!

the blue i only did because it seems like such a waste not to use all the blue paint ive bought recently, of course i was trying to avoid a mix, since thats what i used last time, and look how that turned out!

i think they both work pretty damn well

so they're both being used!

blues for the riders and street judges, black for the chief judges, holocaust judges (but with hints of dark blue on the armor) and SJS

once the store is done, expect to see them all roll out of the academy ;)

ive also retired the old med and tek judges... i just couldnt put up with their awful awful appearance anymore :S

i've also canned the idea to use anvil bases as standard, it just proved to be too expensive to base everyone, so ive gone back to the first ones i did! nice and simple, just add greenstuff to the base and boom, done :) not 100% ideal, but it'll work nicely (especially since the bases mirror the main blocks i used on the gunstore and all future buildings!)

more soon(tm)

Aweful... Just aweful.. Strip it.. Do it again with a real 1/2" detail brush this time.. Don't forget to shade and highlight with a paint stripper of your choice.

Lol seriously though I like it. I still say you should do them all split colour scheme.
Looking forward to more.
