Is there a way we can put something on the individual's profile or under their avatar when posting to track that?

For instance when two people agree to a trade the click on notification to make sure that both sides agree to the trade as described. Then when the trade is complete, the people can update saying the other person fulfilled there part. Then we can see Tim 9 of 9 trades successful or something.

Just a thought.

I'll look into it, should be able to come up with something.

Right now I'm looking at organising the smilies ...

i like the idea of a Trade Rating (doesnt WS's trading post have something like that?).

that might explain the PM i just sent you then... (and the fact that the "view more emoticons" button is missing)

I think personal testimony is possibly a bit better, it comes with in built safeguards of someone actually reading about a trade.. rather than taking KMB 12* at face value (thus putting an onus on the site owner of some level), when I (like I had done on certain other sites) push my own ranking up so as to trade better.
I appreciate that we're all chums and all that, which is possibly another reason why a rating system isn't great... what if someone ranked 4 (being normal good) when you wanted 5 (super uber dooper with a sprig of parsley to keep the mini smelling fresh).
I don't buy or sell here just because I'm such a weasel in £ matters, so my thoughts really are immaterial, I just thought insights from a weasel might help.

Well I wasn't thinking of ranking the trade from 1 to 5. Just yes it was good or no he didn't send what he said he would.

If you see someone has 1 out of 4 then you know to beware.

The problem I can see with this is that you'd need a way to record that a trade existed in the first place - otherwise a malicious user could just go and start rating everyone a 1 without ever having traded with them.

While it's an interesting idea, it's open to mass abuse - did you see the Thanks system on Warseer? That got pulled pretty sharpish when someone when and thanked every single post he could find to prove how useless it was :P

I like the personal recommendation, and if you have doubts you can see who to talk to about past trades etc to give an idea.

i didnt quite get the "thanks" idea - sure it saved people making short "thankyou" type posts, but then it posted to say who had thanked who anyway, automatically. and yes, it was open to abuse.

OK, for the trading thing, hows this: whenever someone creates a Good Trader thread, they get to select the name of the person they traded with and tick a box to say they were happy with the trade. this in turn sends an alert/PM to the person they selected, giving them the chance to tick a box to say they we happy with the trade also.

that way it cant be spammed - at least not without creating lots of threads for the same person, which we would spot easily.

every tick would be counted, and displayed under a person's avatar within the Trading Post, and on their Profile. if you click on the number, it would bring up a list of the Good Trader threads that produced that total (a bit like a Search).

would this be possible?

Unless your a good trader with yourself of course, 3 people I know well on seer have at least 2 identities, How do I know that all the items you've sold are not to yourself (the crazy paranoia kicks in).
Here what I say is unlikely to happen, because volume of trades etc is low and most people read threads just out of interest so there is more scrutiny per trade than anywhere else....but that also makes any need for an elaborate counting system basically unnecessary.(its also another thing to mod\code update\mess up clutter avatar land...which I still think could be a little bigger :P )
I received 10 real thanks (although 1 was for correcting a butt, which made others happy)

KMB it would be for lazy people like me. If I look at the threads I see that Tim is really good and Spack is pretty good and I am not. It would be easier when someone says "I have a bit" for me to see that this person trades a lot and is successful, trades a lot but doesn't complete, or is new to trading and can act accordingly. Spamming can be handled by mods as any other spamming.

Sounds a bit too much like Bartertown imo.
