Morty’s Scratchbuild Project Log - Photos

For members to post long running threads about projects they are working on

Postby mortiferum » Mon May 18, 2009 6:27 pm

A few update photos, I pondered on making the various weapons interchangeable but decided against it eventually.

I opted to build weapons of my own design from scratch that I can use in game as 'counts as' any of the varients.

Heres the turret...

and with it assembled on the tank...

Still the sponsons to do and I will try and make these magnetic / interchangable.

Once the tank company is finished, you can build a Capital Imperialis to transport them all in :D

Got a couple of scratchbuilds going on simutaneously at the moment.

Up first is the interchangable (hopefully) Chmera / Hellhound Chasis, its still a work in progress.

I'm not convined on the guitar wire feed into the turret - I may well get rid of that - any suugestions / comments appreciated.

Still needs some tracks and application of magnets for the Hellhound / Wolf / Dog to Chimera transformation.

Heres a few photos of the early stages (after 4 - 6 hours) of my other current scratchbuild.

So far, its been a fairly easy build, with the exception of the rear fusilage section - need to work out a simplier way to construct it so that its symmetrical when viewed from the rear - its a little 'wonky' right now

Anyone with a Thuderbolt model able to confirm the angle of the wing tips?

I'll add in the panelling / detailing, that only will double the depth. In fact heres a few update photos.

This took ages to do, mainly due to me searching for some free scale drawing packages so I could create my own templates with a little more accuracy, rather than my previous - trial and error approach.

Eventually, it turned out I already had software (Powerpoint) that could do the job all along anyway - perhaps not the best software for scale drawings but it works for now.

(Off - topic - anyone know how to measure / draw angles within Powerpoint?)

Thanks Dan...if its not too much trouble I would appreciate the following reference shots: a head on, rear view and an underside shot. If you could include a ruler within the photo it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
