"From 10th Jan 2011 we will be taking bookings for 2012" As our event is in 2011 is this a loophole?

Maybe they'll be releasing an FAQ? Don't hold your breath though...

When we are up there I'll find out what this means

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost. ... stcount=61

for us in the future.

But I think we should still check the Maelstrom venue out.

Well remember this isn't for the next meetup, which is only a few weeks away.Thats set.
Depends on how they clarify the under 40 category (free up to 30?) and what Matt may or may not find out on the day.
Personally I'd make a stand against their charging and defect to maelstrom anyway...but I'm in the luxurious place of being close and getting lifts off other saps.

Should we have a vote? and tell with named people replies.. basically if you don't intend to attend you don't get a vote. Choice- a) pay for GW, B) alternate venue.(me myself and I would then,if GW won, charge folks who voted to pay for GW even if they didn't attend.Cos, as a freeloader, I'd hate for the peoples vote to be to pay money, only for all the people to back out leaving Matt and 5 others to make a few hundred between them)

awesome :)

never been to maelstrom despite probably being the closest to it lol.

Im not totally against a charge for whw as the tables are great and they have maintenance, lighting costs etc. (altho probably already covered by bugmans) I just think going from nothing to what it has is ridiculous..

I don't see what the fuss is about. I'd gladly pay upto £30 for a weekends gaming, it's the travel and hotel costing that the kicker for me.

I got barred from a big D+D-like group for daring to suggest that 50p a week was reasonable for upkeep of GMs books etc (pre internet)
To many people the 30ish is part of the pilgrimage,(the amount of 'make a wish' ill kids etc who wish on a star to walk around GW is scary)
To me it holds no specialness, and if an equal facility is available that doesn't cost £30, I look at each relatively coldy.
(But for people who its there first visit...I guess they need to see the (current range) museum etc :) )

Quite frankly I'd rather not pay anything to use the tables if an option is involved. The hotel, fuel and food are enough for me...

I like the museum + I like the bar + I like the gaming hall and tables + I like easy access to forgeworld goodies = I like the venue

but

£50 hotel + £30ish food over 2 days + £20 drinks and coffee + £50 petrol = £150 just to join in a doubles tourney and a game of apoc. Don't like that. Not really happy about paying another £30 gaming costs on top. (Let alone anything I spend in the shop!)

Warhammer is great, but GW sucks.
