Well for me it was that i'd moved on from silly toy soldiers  and girls and drink and prohibited activites and consumables were more important to me (I was a space fanatic, I had loads of it but never enough- I only remember now that I bought a dart board gave it away , a snooker cue set sold it at profit and X number of computers sold just so that i could have a matress on the floor and some plants on a windowsill whilst some music played and that was about all my possesions for X years...maybe i went through a kind of tidying up affairs thing (my continued corporeal form was in no way guarenteed)..not sure.
I only took it back up when impending father hood slammed the brakes on my socialisng ( :P ) and ljundhammer came to town to reintroduce me to it.
Drax has just said he sold to get someone interested.
I know some modellers and painters buy armies paint them and get bored sell them and buy fresh sprus to create with (althuogh to me as painting is a chore in my eyes it seems nutbarish)
Some folks sell on for sensible and sane space constraints (mine does take up around 14ft by 2ft by 5 ft of my house)..and some do sell due to financial hardships althuogh thats never pretty,(and thats where some of my armies come from) I had a friend sell her sega megadrive in the 90s to pay her phone bill.(same stuff happens to folks today, i just know less people in financial pickles right now)
Barely even lurking..

When I was young and not working (i.e. still in the education system) I sold stuff to buy new stuff on a whim. I wouldn't do that (so much) now though...

i think the thing with WFB, more so than with 40k is that you really need to have a good idea in advance of what you want so that the unit is able to work to the best you want it too.

in 40k, the average squad size is 10 = you buy one box generally

but with fantasy, you may need 2 or 3 (or more for zombies/clanrats if your nasty), so buying on a whim is so much more risky.

personally though, and this being from a guy that has had no one to game with for fantasy for years, writing that 'perfect list and then going out and buying what you need is the rewarding bit!

hmmm, for me its more like, writing that perfect list, then going out and CRUSHING THE OPPOSITION TO THE POINT HE CRIES!!!!!

and if he doesnt, smash his special character into the scenery for good measure :P

Anyway, slightly off, didnt think this many ppl had SO much?

One thing im not to sure about WFB is that I dont think there is much scope for conversions?? building differ weapons etc?

however, I would love to build the chaos dwarf cannon for my good dwarfs!!! 8)

wfb is more restrictive for unit upgrades than 40k - essentially you sometimes get the choice to purchase weapon and/or armour upgrades for the unit as well as command models of champion, musician and standard bearer.

but you can always do conversions on these guys to make them stand out that bit more.

as for the hellcannon - i think thats the one you mean, the dwarfs don't need it tbh. they get pretty much every other type of cannon afterall.

if you are interested in chaos stunties though, i can point you in the direction of a fan written CD army list, which is based on the old WD/Ravening Hordes/Journal lists

I have a dwarven army and they seem broken to me. You can't disrupt my magic. I have gunlines second only to Skaven and I am good in HTH.

I should put up some photos.

I used my trademarked "blurry cam" technique.

As you can see, one is not painted and is hiding from the camera.

That is my ninja dwarf.

The Target was the FW amount £375, now once this is done my next attempt is, i think gonna be a scout titan.....maybe a reaver if I come into money, but not holding my breath :P

HA, LOL that means ive got a mostly ninja army! I like the look, the colours look dark and dirty, thats what dwarfs should look like, after all they live in tunnels!

They look nice Ben. Just a thought, does your camera have a 'macro' feature? If it does, that will take care of the blurry close up shots.

My phone does not. I don't know if my wife's camera does. I will have to play with it some more.

I call them the Dwarves of Snowy Mountain. I am so original that way.

I prefer my Chaos army. I run Beasts (I know I am a masochist) with some Mortals and Daemons for flavor.

A couple of friends play WHFB minis but use the Armies of Arcana rules (for balance and all). I may try that myself.

I didn't know those pics were from a cell phone! In that case, pretty nice photos!
