What to do with my latest impulse buy?

Postby lostandthedamned » Sat Feb 07, 2009 5:58 pm

Ok, was just totally seduced.
I've just ordered a box of these: Perry Minatures French Napoleonic. £15 for 42 models looks great.

Now i'm stuck for a choice.

Do I replace the muskets with lasguns and start them as infantry for the upcoming Imperial Guard Codex.
Or
Do I use them as the basis for a Fantasy Empire Army. (I've been thinking of ranked infantry with missile weapons for a while).

Please have a look and give me some opinions.

0k definatly.

Maybe use the bullpup Elisian lasguns.
Then they would look classic modern contempalary.

I was thinking of having them with lasguns in a very similar fashion to how the muskets are at the moment, with bayonets fixed.
A planetary PDF, with old fashioned tanks & equipment.
Gives me a reason to field my Macharius in bigger games.
To match it I could order some of these: Mortian Heavy Tanks. which are deliberately made to have the same weapons points as a Leman Russ, in the same scale. They look like it'd be a nice match...

More pictures of tank found here on warseer: Warseer Thread

I think 40k, since I loved the praetorian models, that era of warfare is the way IG play, so is very suitable. The tank however doesn't do it for me, looks far too similiar to a predator for my liking, plus the price tag is rather high. But you could get some old fashioned cannons to use as missile launchers, and gatling guns for heavy bolter/autocannons, then that would look very cool.

They are very nice!!!
Are the heads easily removable???

Victorian steam vehicles would go with them quite well, I think, have you looked at scheltrum miniatures???

If you do go ahead with lasguns, could you do a guide?
I've been thinking about doing something similar, but have bottled out so far!

Good luck with it.

Actually looking at the Perry's site, I'm taken by the look of the Plastic American Civil War models. Again 36 models for £15, bargain

Remember collecting 15mm ACW about 20 years ago (as 25mm metal was too expensive). Loved the game - might have to think about buying a box or two at Salute.

As to what to model them as Fantasy / WH40K - they would make great PDF troops - just need to figure out how to do special & heavy weapons.
